was e.e. cummings one-handed?

typing with left hand only at moment.

as many know, took hard spill off my bike tuesday afternoon. crash didn’t involve any other people or vehicles. just clumsy self.

toppled off my bike onto my right elbow and knee. mix of adrenaline and embarrassment (fell just after crossing very busy intersection where i sure many saw it) made me pop right back up, remount bike, and ride two remaining miles home. even picked up and carried bike upstairs into apartment, no problem! and once inside used both arms/hands to clean up knee! right elbow hurt, but thought it was just sore and kept it moving so it not get stiff.

didn’t feel up to cooking. went out to dinner when steph got home. sat down. arm started to bother more. could lift at shoulder and wiggle fingers fine…elbow swollen up and no want to move from 45-degree-angle anymore. tried to keep it moving, this really starting to hurt, causing me to try to use utensils with left-hand. harder than one might think. on way home, decided to admit to self that arm no working right and need to go to er.

waited long time. finally got in. more waiting. various people come by and ask where it hurts, then grab arm and try to bend it, asking if this hurt. “ow! yes, this hurt.” x-rays. more waiting. more x-rays. must straighten out arm for last round of x-rays. this really hurt. more waiting.

turns out have fracture in bone in right elbow. did not have to get cast. got it wrapped and put in sling. am able to move it more and feel a little less pain in it each day. will be back to normal in a few weeks.
